On the evening of December 14th, Aikang Technology announced plans to invest 2.1 billion yuan in constructing six HJT (Heterojunction) cell production lines, with a combined capacity of 4.6 GW.
According to the announcement, the investment will be made by Aikang Technology's wholly-owned subsidiary, Ganzhou Aikang Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Ganzhou Aikang Optoelectronics"). The project's planned fixed asset investment is 2.1 billion yuan.
Aikang Technology from the main equipment, fixed asset investments such as land, construction, and electromechanical facilities have already been completed. The project will introduce one 600 MW and five 800 MW HJT cell production lines.
Aikang Technology has strategically positioned its efficient solar cell and module production bases in Suzhou, Jiangsu, Ganzhou, Jiangxi, Huzhou, Zhejiang, and Zhoushan, Zhejiang. Currently, the company possesses a production capacity of 3.2 GW for HJT cells, 0.8 GW for PERC cells, and 10.4 GW for modules.
As of now, Aikang Technology has an in-hand order for approximately 2.95 GW of HJT modules, and the existing HJT cell production capacity cannot meet the demand of these orders.
Aikang Technology stated that the production plan is designed to meet increasing demand and expand production. Based on market and customer demand forecasts and existing orders, the capacity will be increased batch by batch on each production line, aligning with the growth of market orders. The company plans to complete the installation of the main equipment for the first HJT cell production line by January 2024.
Aikang Technology also mentioned that the planned 4.6 GW HJT cell production project primarily focuses on the advantages of the main product, HJT cells. Compared to mainstream products in the current market, HJT cells offer advantages such as better power generation performance, significant efficiency improvement potential, a clear cost reduction path, and simplified production processes. By further enhancing its focus on efficient solar cell module manufacturing and emphasizing heterojunction technology, the company aims to upgrade its cell production lines. In the new round of competition in the photovoltaic industry's P-type to N-type technology upgrade iteration, Aikang Technology is expected to sustain a favorable market competitive position through its advantageous production structure.
