Recently, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) in the UK confirmed that the budget for the 2024 Contracts for Difference (CfD) Round 6 auction (AR6) amounts to a staggering £1.025 billion, marking the highest amount ever allocated.

It's evident from the allocation of this budget that due to the lower budget and execution prices of AR5, the UK missed out on opportunities to enhance renewable energy capacity. Therefore, the UK government has made efforts in AR6 to increase the execution prices for all eligible technologies participating in the auction. The price of solar energy has surged by 30%, rising from £47/MWh to £61/MWh.

Meanwhile, energy Security Secretary Claire Coutinho said: When it comes to renewables, we have a record to be proud of. In 2010, just 7% of our electricity came from renewables, this is now up to over 40% today.

At present, to address the crisis of new energy and break away from dependence on traditional energy sources, the UK is actively developing new energy projects such as wind power and photovoltaics. Photovoltaics, as a more stable and cost-effective "energy panacea," are being propelled into the UK and even the entire European market by the globalization trend.

Located in a temperate zone, the UK is significantly influenced by Atlantic climate. Due to its high latitude and perennially cloudy weather, the effective sunshine hours in the UK is relatively short. Nevertheless, according to Wikipedia, the sunshine hours in most parts of the UK is comparable to that of most capital cities in Northern European countries, at around 1600 hours per year.

Taking a look at the entire UK market, mainstream photovoltaic brands like #LONGiSolar, #JASolar, and #CanadianSolar are quite popular.

Among them, LONGi Solar's Hi-MO series monocrystalline silicon modules are highly favored in the UK market for their high efficiency and durability. In Southampton Port, there's a stable 981 kW commercial and industrial distributed generation project that has been running for two and a half years. The project uses a total of 2000 solar panels, providing approximately 850 MWh of electricity to the port. Not only does it meet the shore power demand of port vessels, but it also reduces local carbon emissions by about 235 tons annually.
